SUMMER FIELD GREETINGS

More summer trips, caravan journeys, nights in a tent, long walks. This summer is so sweet. Friends are so sweet.

When I started six years ago as an entrepreneur, I had no clue how to manage. No-one has, I guess. Slowly I was contacted by amazing people and I was always surprised. I still am. Thank you all and everyone for your comments, emails, letters, postcards, inquiries and warm words. Now that I am back at work on full speed and the summer starts to turn to an end but still continuing, I think a lot how things are. They are so sweet. All the things.

Thank you, thank you!

One of the most sweet thing is Red Cap Cards. Carrie, Hal and Arlo have believed in my work lasting for more than twenty different greeting cards. And this summer there is something very special, which is now available. The Summer Collection consist of three new greeting cards with foil, three wrapping paper and two notebooks with foil from each talented: Becca Stadtlander, Kelsey Garrity Riley, Carolyn Gavin, Kate Pugsley, Dinara Mirtalipova, Yelena Bryksenkova and me. Violet Birdy, White Calendula and April Bouquet can be seen and purchased here and they are also available for wholesale.

You can see more here and hereHope you enjoy them!

And thank you so much darling Red Cap Cards!

All the photos by Red Cap Cards.

P.s. A little video of making it alive by Red Cap Cards. Loving this dancing team!

MON HERBIER

Leaves flying in the wind, the first rain drops drizzling after many sunny autumn days. Frost appearing on some mornings, Northern lights dancing on some nights.

Mon herbier, a botanical guide and a herbarium available now from Rustica éditions. Text by Michel Luchesi, illustrations by me, edited by Julie Parpaillon and design by Caroline Soulères. A box with all the tools to make your own herbarium: a botanical guide and a notebook to collect your leaves. The nomadic botanical guide explains many things about the trees and the forest life: the shape of their leaves, their host animals, the fruit and flowers, and gives interesting hints about activities and discoveries. A spiral notebook allows you to paste all the leaves from your walks. Text in French.

Hopefully you enjoy collecting and learning about leaves!

IN FOREST, HELP!

Birds singing in a summer forest after a refreshing rain, the sun starts to glimmer on every leaf and flower again. The bird songs grow stronger and wilder. Peace is around.

My colleague, wonderful illustrator and comic artist JP Ahonen made a website that sells original drawings and paintings and a few prints. All income will be donated to the Red Cross to aid their work in helping asylum seekers during the Syrian conflict.

This is a detail of a bigger painting, In Forest, that was a commissioned painting for Mirando Bok in Sweden. The original painting is also now available there. The site has collected already more than 10000€, and hopefully soon even more!

Please have a look, and help at:

Peace
1. freedom from disturbance; tranquillity.
2. a state or period in which there is no war or a war has ended

Peace to everyone!

COLOURING SEPTEMBER MOODS

Hello September!

Gardens still bloom, meadows are filled with dragon flies near to the lakes. Every possible minute outdoors, sleeping under stars, watching full Moon and Aurora Borealis on dark sky. The cool misty mornings are swept away slowly with sunshine and warmth, until the evening cools everything to perfect temperature, to woollen cardigan weather.

A few new prints available in the small online shop! Meadow Path, that can be coloured in, Tree Village with blue evening moments, Butterfly Branches to savour the last summer moments and Buttercups to think of the new coming spring.

The Tree Village and Butterfly Branches were made with the kind support from Arts Promotion Centre Finland. Thank you for the support!

Long walks, warming drinks, starlight!

SUMMER BIRCH TREE

Boat trips on the lakes of this city, bicycling from shadows to warm sun. The wind that hymns its summer songs through birch tree leaves with different melodies. Swallows late in the evening. Swimming and reading books, feet in water.

Summer Birch Tree -poster available in the small online shop, here.

July greetings!

NORTHBOUND

Summer, even cold so far, Northern magic at home in the East and in Lapland. Trees that get smaller and twisted on the way, people who get more relaxed. The sun that does not set. The visitors with antlers on greener blueberry patches. Secrets of the North.

Happy summer!

SPRING ALLOTMENT

A few coltsfoot, that have popped up from the earth, are more yellow than the Sun, that shines through a misty cloud on its way down behind the city. Orange and purple Crocuses are awake too. The lake is melting every day more, the waves are happy and alive. Glimmering those golden rays of the one hiding shyly behind the misty clouds.

Spring Allotment, a new little garden to grow up with, for L'Affiche Moderne, is now available. Its companion painting, Garden of A Moon Gazer, is still available too.

Spring Allotment is supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland. Thank you so much!

Spring wishes!

SPRING BIRDS, INTERVIEW

Big grey clouds in the horizon, waiting new snow to arrive. Teacup in hand, window open. They sing so wildly already, opening their voices, the spring birds. Every day new sounds and more flying.

A little sneak peak to the local stores, to their collection of spring on textile and on tableware. More to tell about these soon! Secret wild gardens and summer birds.

Red Cap Cards made a small interview about me, you can read it here and here. Thank you Carrie and Andie!

Happy melodies!

WILD PEONIES, A PRINT, ONLINE SHOP UPDATE

Some snowflakes are floating in sunshine and the lake was a little bit frozen from the shore this morning. Waking up with candle light, pouring an extra cup of tea, watching as jackdaws visit the rowan tree, berry by berry. Welcome winter!

Wild Peonies, for the arriving dim times, to brighten up a little. An A3-sized poster available now in my small online shop.

Pink, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, small details collected from my late summer walks on my soft watercolour paper.

I Dream, a few detail photos added.

The shop is updated with more posters and books, for the winter's sake. The first ten orderers receive an extra winter greeting card as a thank you for the coming celebrations.

I´m over the Moon because of this week's newspaper article about the book that has a cover with my illustration. So rarely the book cover illustrator is mentioned, but this time the work was seen. And liked. Thank you!

Red-cheeked winter greetings!

HIDING FOX, JACADI F/W 2014, PART II

The one who is hiding in colourful leaves and winter flowers walks so silently with its soft paws. The winter flowers are covered in frost, shining in golden sunshine. The forests have turned to yellow, orange and red with their leaves. The sound of forests is rustling of fallen leaves under feet steps. Or paws.

For the ones who are adventurous little nature expeditors.

And for the ones who endlessly see interesting things.

And for even smaller ones that see every little detail.

And for the ones whose paws go from story to story.

For the ones who eagerly learn everyday something new.

For the ones with special occasions.

And for the ones that need to stay very warm, to expedite a little longer.

Winter Bouquet Collection is now available at Jacadi Paris with the Feather Collection with my illustrations. It was very lovely to get your messages and hear that you like the little owl. Hopefully you enjoy this little fox cub too!

Here the days are very colourful in the afternoons and misty in the mornings with frost. Wishing this moment would last a little longer and then the snow would already float and cover everything with its softness and brightness.

Stay warm in the weekend winds!

(All the photos are by Jacadi Paris, the illustration by me.)
