IN FOREST, HELP!
Birds singing in a summer forest after a refreshing rain, the sun starts to glimmer on every leaf and flower again. The bird songs grow stronger and wilder. Peace is around.
My colleague, wonderful illustrator and comic artist JP Ahonen made a website that sells original drawings and paintings and a few prints. All income will be donated to the Red Cross to aid their work in helping asylum seekers during the Syrian conflict.
This is a detail of a bigger painting, In Forest, that was a commissioned painting for Mirando Bok in Sweden. The original painting is also now available there. The site has collected already more than 10000€, and hopefully soon even more!
Please have a look, and help at:

SUMMER BIRCH TREE
Boat trips on the lakes of this city, bicycling from shadows to warm sun. The wind that hymns its summer songs through birch tree leaves with different melodies. Swallows late in the evening. Swimming and reading books, feet in water.

SPRING BIRDS, INTERVIEW
Big grey clouds in the horizon, waiting new snow to arrive. Teacup in hand, window open. They sing so wildly already, opening their voices, the spring birds. Every day new sounds and more flying.
A little sneak peak to the local stores, to their collection of spring on textile and on tableware. More to tell about these soon! Secret wild gardens and summer birds.
Red Cap Cards made a small interview about me, you can read it here and here. Thank you Carrie and Andie!
Happy melodies!

WHITENESS, LAST SHOP SHIPPING DAY THIS FRIDAY
On Saturday morning a wedge of 22 swans flew over the tree tops on a grey sky. Singing sadly on their way, telling a long and old story from the ancient times most probably. Open waters have disappeared, I waved good-bye to them on their way to South. I am soon on my way to North instead.
That is why this Friday, the 13th of December is the last day to order items from my small online shop before Christmas. The shop stays open, but all orders done after Friday will be shipped after 27th of December. Some of the posters are back, also some greeting cards.
Candle lights, lanterns everywhere as the days are so short. The darkness is hugging with so many warm moments.
A few floating snowflakes, a cup of cinnamon tea and a smile to your day!

THREE IN A GARDEN
Sunny and warm days turning to cold breezes and puffy white clouds of breathing in the evenings. Still some summer birds singing. Hay done in the nearby field, meadow blooming in light purple flowers. Rowen berries getting darker orange and red. Balcony door still open, though the first hours of the morning a bit shivering. Eagerness of autumn arriving. The darkness of the evenings wrapping its comfort around everything. Blinking stars.
Three Nightingales to dear friends that married and did it so beautifully.
Late morning tea greetings!

FLYING AWAY

Skies of different days are filled with flocks of birds. South reads on their map, but how they find there. Navigating by shores or mountains, hills or forests? Does the wind tell them and take them there. Seagulls, they will stay and only go when there is no open water. Goose flock was having their break in a park, middle of yellow leaves. Maybe they came from Greenland.
Birds at home. One bird who will stay with me through the winters, got a woolen jacket to stay warm. The other ones have always summer next to flower fields. They sway in their flock. The third one is living in Iceland, but I had the pleasure to meet some of them with my camera. Bon voyage migrating birds, have a safe journey!
The small lake behind my window is having white peaks on its waves, it is such a windy day. I wish for sunshine for tomorrow, when friends take mbe to a mushroom forest. Tea in a thermo bottle, cinnamon buns and a woven basket with a wish of a nice treasure from the moss fields.
Warm weekend wishes to you with some golden whiskers of the sun!

PEBBLES OF RAIN AND FEATHERS

Rain either with water or bird feathers from the roof-neighbors. A tent for keeping toes dry. Woken by crows while they had a-very-serious-sounding-meeting to realize that it was a moment of sunshine, indeed. But only for a moment. Now an afternoon tea with some rays of sun, reflecting like surface of a lake on the wall. Table light is turned on again otherwise.
Have a warm afternoon break.

SCENT OF HARVEST

Postwoman has been ringing my doorbell with parcels this week. The first one came over the seas and oceans from Kerstin. Books and a soft treasure to keep company for my teapot. Thank you! Second one came from Sweden, a Finnish magazine Maalaisunelma (Nr 7 2010) featured my sprout paintings (1 & 2).
Balcony door stays closed, yellow leaves cannot be counted anymore. Birds are flying more, practicing for longer journeys. Singing of jackdaws is back, loving it as afternoon surprises. After summer´s bicycle trips, now walking is the nicest way to reach tea, markets, post office and this evening maybe a concert, the last outdoor movie and an exhibition. Clouds covering the sky, walking makes the world visible only piece by piece, more concentrated, more comforting.
Tomorrow a train trip to the strawberry fields. The season is over, but hopefully there are lingonberries in the forests around. Continuing to knit a huge pile of black wool, reading a book. But before that, an unfinished painting is waiting.
Forest scent weekend wishes to you, thank you for stopping by!

Anna Emilia

PATHS TO WONDER, TALK, AND SEE, OR TO BE SILENT

Good morning dear all of you,
This morning is very cold. Nose is frozen. Autumn is for walks with a hot cup of coffee or tea in hands. With my dear friend we have done that a lot the last years, in different countries with wonderful views on the way. Cats, birds, trees, ponds, parks, forests, hills, sleeping beaches snoring. Villages, gardens, farms, business streets. Dogs and markets. Always sketchbooks in our bags with some provisions. To walk I could forever.
These pictures are from Reykjavík in 2006. A bright orange coffee house was our living room, hot pots with old men boiling in them like soups in the swimming pools for the evenings or early mornings.
Maybe I am a bit too early with the autumn, it is still August. At least two layers of long sleeves can be finally tried on in the early mornings. The sky is also changing its palette to a bit colder tones.
Have a walk, a long one today!
Hearts,
Anna Emilia

BARE FEET TO THE SUMMER POND

Hello dear you,
A summer forest pond appeared on my desk while painting many other things this morning. Maybe this pond lies very near to the spring pond. Surely it is possible to walk bare feet and swim silently there listening the wind in the tree tops and birds on the branches. Surely it is possible to stay there only very few, but surely one can stay there all the day and all the night too: the sun does not set anymore almost at all. Shadows are short and pale. Maybe a small bonfire can be collected to have some company, brittle cracks of burning wood and scent of fire, scent of home.
How are you?
Have a pretty day!
