11 GREETING CARDS, AUTUMN SONGS

On a rainy day finally indoors, cleaning shelves and arranging: a few packs of 11 Greeting Cards for Red Cap Cards added to my small online shop, including three foil cards. Good for the ones especially living in Europe, no custom fees. Many happy moments and wishes!

The mornings and all the colours of the leaves. Lots of bicycling, rowing, walking and a few ice-creams when the summer momentarily came back. Now the raindrops calm down.

COLOURING SEPTEMBER MOODS

Hello September!

Gardens still bloom, meadows are filled with dragon flies near to the lakes. Every possible minute outdoors, sleeping under stars, watching full Moon and Aurora Borealis on dark sky. The cool misty mornings are swept away slowly with sunshine and warmth, until the evening cools everything to perfect temperature, to woollen cardigan weather.

A few new prints available in the small online shop! Meadow Path, that can be coloured in, Tree Village with blue evening moments, Butterfly Branches to savour the last summer moments and Buttercups to think of the new coming spring.

The Tree Village and Butterfly Branches were made with the kind support from Arts Promotion Centre Finland. Thank you for the support!

Long walks, warming drinks, starlight!

SUMMER BIRCH TREE

Boat trips on the lakes of this city, bicycling from shadows to warm sun. The wind that hymns its summer songs through birch tree leaves with different melodies. Swallows late in the evening. Swimming and reading books, feet in water.

Summer Birch Tree -poster available in the small online shop, here.

July greetings!

LITTLE SECRETS

Wild Peonies -print.

A stormy wind is singing its songs outside. The last nights the Moon shone so beautifully with dark silhouettes of tall fir trees under her. Wishing that some snow would soon arrive.

Inside in candlelight it feels cozy to write postcards and pack orders with a cup of tea listening to the wind. On the table branches of fir tree and a long list of things undone. Secret moments.

A few days left to get orders from my small online shop delivered on time for the Holidays. (On the right of this site, under Blog Archive you can also find some direct links to my illustrated books and stationary.)

Happy secret times!

WILD PEONIES, A PRINT, ONLINE SHOP UPDATE

Some snowflakes are floating in sunshine and the lake was a little bit frozen from the shore this morning. Waking up with candle light, pouring an extra cup of tea, watching as jackdaws visit the rowan tree, berry by berry. Welcome winter!

Wild Peonies, for the arriving dim times, to brighten up a little. An A3-sized poster available now in my small online shop.

Pink, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, small details collected from my late summer walks on my soft watercolour paper.

I Dream, a few detail photos added.

The shop is updated with more posters and books, for the winter's sake. The first ten orderers receive an extra winter greeting card as a thank you for the coming celebrations.

I´m over the Moon because of this week's newspaper article about the book that has a cover with my illustration. So rarely the book cover illustrator is mentioned, but this time the work was seen. And liked. Thank you!

Red-cheeked winter greetings!

WHITENESS, LAST SHOP SHIPPING DAY THIS FRIDAY

On Saturday morning a wedge of 22 swans flew over the tree tops on a grey sky. Singing sadly on their way, telling a long and old story from the ancient times most probably. Open waters have disappeared, I waved good-bye to them on their way to South. I am soon on my way to North instead.

That is why this Friday, the 13th of December is the last day to order items from my small online shop before Christmas. The shop stays open, but all orders done after Friday will be shipped after 27th of December. Some of the posters are back, also some greeting cards.

Candle lights, lanterns everywhere as the days are so short. The darkness is hugging with so many warm moments.

A few floating snowflakes, a cup of cinnamon tea and a smile to your day!

Heippa! Perjantaihin, 13.12.2013 mennessä tehdyt tilaukset pikkukaupastani ehtivät vielä joulupostiin! Perjantain jälkeen tehdyt tilaukset laitan postiin pyhien jälkeen.

MAY BOUQUET IN A CLOUDY LATE SUMMER'S DAY

Sunny days, coffee in the harbour, long bicycle trips on hills and around lakes. Wrapped inside a woollen blanket when the sun sets, gazing the small lake from my balcony. The scent of fresh late summer evenings, with almost ripen apples from all directions. The scent of fire as people start to heat their houses with fireplaces, smoke curling up from chimneys.

Here the autumn is close, in my summer holiday destination the sun sets for the first time in four months tomorrow. On the other side of the world, the spring arrives.

The first peonies in old pink and succulents in spring green are colouring the landscape of sunshine and warm winds. Warmest congratulations to R & G in Paris, who ordered this custom painting for their wedding invitation

You can find a few prints of this painting in my small online shop.

Clouds on the sky, shadows hiding. Colours of today on my painting table are mint green, ice blue and rowen orange.

Second pot of green tea, calm wishes!

I DREAM

I dream. I think that dreams take us further, they make us to do and feel. Dreams comfort us. Dreams make us happy and to understand our life. They reflect our lives. Dreams can be small or big. I can dream of a cup of tea or of a neighbourhood without sad faces. Dreams are moments, they come and go. We try to reach them. They lead us.

Dreams can be of a better tomorrow or a longer health. Still they don´t need to change anything. We can dream that this moment continues. We should have the same rights and possibilities to dream of the same things, we should be equal when dreaming and trying to fulfil them.

Even though I do not sign any specific religion or ideology, I think that I have a dream is one of the most beautiful sentences that we have on this earth.

I Dream poster in the small online shop.

I Have A Dream was originally the title of a public speech by American activist Martin Luther King, Jr to call for an end to racism in the United States.

The sun shines. Late afternoon coffee break on my balcony wrapped in a big woollen blanket, warmed by the sun. The freezing evening is already crawling in and the first daffodils should be taken in for the night.

Happy dreaming!

ONE WINTER NIGHT

Forest Cuckoo -print

It can happen sometimes, at 23:02, just when you are brushing your teeth and have just switched on your reading lamp by your bed and are eager to get in between fresh clean sheets on a cold first winter night, that you get the idea that you were searching for for the whole day. Then it naturally happens that your reading lamp shines lonely and you find yourself toothbrush still in mouth sketching fourty-five minutes later.

Written on my sketchbook last week with drawings of trees, birds and snowfall.

Two new prints, Forest Cuckoo and Blossom Sailing plus some new greeting cards in my online shop. Hopefully you enjoy them!

Silently the first snow came, silently it also disappeared other night. Thank you for the comments in the last post, it became such a nice dictionary of the word "snow". Rain on the calendar with hints of sun rays.

Have a good last day of October, welcome November! Warm evening greetings with dark cloud silhouettes on the sunset sky!

SNOWY WHISPERS

Snowstorm during the weekend, long walks and red cheeks. Pancakes with tomato salad and chicpea-cashew-coriander-parsley-olive oil-garlic-spread. Or pancakes with buckthorn jelly and oat cream. Slow and long music for snow, silence for the wind. Writing letters and cards in between sketching. In between gazing the snow flakes floating. A few at a time.

Packing orders (and originals). Watching the pine tree on the balcony. Walking more and listening the sound of snow. Small birds all over, eating the last berries from trees and seeds from people. Trying to learn more their names and behavior.

Have a calm Monday, with warmth from me to you.

FROST GARDEN

This week it might come, the first snow. Still a hint of orange light, sunset on a clear sky. Some clouds in shape of dancers, in a strong wind.

Last night the Moon was making a hole to the black sky. Which colored thread could have been the nicest to mend it with a needle? Violet probably, light blue too. The lunar maria of the Moon were so visible, if they really were seas I wondered who all were bathing in them.

One morning the winter came. It was drawing frost gardens to all the windows. I blew warm air from my mouth to one of the windows and rubbed a small circle to the ice with my warm hand. All the landscape was covered with a white blanket outside, but gardens on my windows bloomed all the winter through.

Frost Garden on My Window -print is now in the shop, with a few more pictures of it. I wait it to appear on my windows later this week too.

Orange colored Monday greetings, have calm days.

WAITING FOR RAIN

Friday afternoon is for jazz, rhubarb pie and planting an avocado with small leaves into a pot. It is also going through photos of old times, winter and letters received. It is funny how "other" things feel comfortable in this kind of moment. Sun in the rain, rain in the sun. Now as waiting for the rain, it is like in-between everything. Wise man in the radio said this morning that it is not good to long for the past, but it is good to long for the future because of the beautiful memories in the past. It is good to have eaten a piece of rhubarb pie in the past to know that it was good and maybe I can have a small piece more now...? Wishing to share it with you.

There are two new prints in my shop:

In Meadow, Wood sorrel, Forget-Me-Not, Twinflower, Harebell and Meadow Pea are the scent of this small meadow. A few birch tree leaves, a handful of clovers and a gentle summer wind are here.

Bike Caravan, This small house is cleaned from winter´s dust, windows of it have been washed and polished and new carpets put on the floor. Some oil on the gears and chains and the trip with spring can start. Which curvy forest roads will we head to? Smoke from the chimney and laundry drying on the roof, those will be the only signs we leave behind. Every evening a new landscape to fall asleep with.

Both prints are on recycled 300 grams silk matte paper and will be signed by hand. In Meadow is a painting I did just a few weeks ago as an assignment, more about that soon. Bike Caravan is a painting from 2009 for an American clothing store. Hopefully you like them.

Will the rain come? I think to have seen a few drops, and the birds have stopped to fly above the lake.

Have a calm weekend.

THE WIND BROUGHT WARMTH

The wind has changed. Dropping all the snow down from tree branches. Warming the air. I am afraid, but I think to have smelled the spring yesterday even though it snowed all the day heavily. This early. But that is how the spring comes, in steps. In storms. Backwards and forwards with the winter. I think that the winter still wins for some months.

There are two new prints in my shop. Rainy Day in A Nearby Forest and Stollinn:

— Drip drop sounds through leaves as raindrops are landing. Fresh scents of pine, cherries and birch tree leaves. Soft wet grass under bare toes. Gentle summer rain is here.

— Mountain called Stollinn is like a chair for a giant. It frames a small fishing village in North Iceland and holds a small glacier tightly behind its back. Weather keeps Stollinn playing hide and seek game. Sunshine makes it golden, mist and rain makes it to disappear.

How are you?

Here it is nap time of a Saturday evening. Then a long walk to see if the streets are already cleaned after the storm of yesterday. A bit of chocolate. A lot of tea. Lots of love.

HELLO, IT IS WINTER

Hello dear all of you,

This bear hugs the winter for good-bye. Here, I hug the winter for welcome. It has been snowing the whole morning and noon, sounds are becoming soft and distant, everything still. Blinking lights of small trucks pushing darker squares on the snow for passengers. Many times they need to push the same area today. Emptying an area and making frames on the sides of streets with those heaps of snow.

The bear cub smiles because something is tickling it. Maybe that he gets to eat soon fresh leaves and berries, honey and spring fresh water. Or that there is still a little while to sleep a bit longer. "Winter Is Ending" -print is added to my shop.

Today, watercolor brushes are tickling the soft cotton paper and a small train trip tomorrow is tickling me. Hopefully the giveaway is tickling you, it is open till Sunday the 21st of November. Thank you to everyone who already participated, you are many there, happy to hear from you!

Tastes of lime green tea to your Thursday,

Anna Emilia

MIXTURE OF LAVENDER, HONEY AND SMOKE SCENT

Dear Wednesday, dear you,

How are you?

Bicycling under rain showers, wind gusts and very grey clouds. I wonder what those are humming on their way. Where do they start and where do they end. Orange, yellow, red and purple are clothing trees and bushes. Dots of these colors are glued to the streets. Polka dots of leaves. Early mornings are very dark and breakfast can be eaten in a candle light. Sometimes just after the paper woman has dropped the newspaper of the day. Yesterday I asked what the rain does in my shoes on my way in the town. I thought to own the shoes but seems the rain rented them away.

Thank you once again for your comments and emails. They are always a surprise to make me smile.

News of today, Forest Tearoom is a print and available in my shop. A painting from the summer, Apple Blossom Meadow is also available again as a print. Many have also asked about my original paintings. Yes they are also for sale, many are already sold. Please send an email to me if you are interested.

Whispers of the wind and lunctime love,

Anna Emilia

FOREST TEAROOM

Good morning dear all of you,

Wind is making somersaults and blowing in cold whispers. Light has vanished from early mornings. The first layer of yellow leaves is softening steps on afternoon walks. Evenings come with a candle light.

My book, Proof of Winter is added to the shop. “I started to battle against winter because I wanted to be friends with it. ...As preparation I cut a wind-proof haircut. Wherever it would blow from now, my hair would not be on my face.” More pictures of the book in my Flickr.

Have a small walk in the forest and find to my small tearoom. Have a cup of tea and enjoy the landscape and the warmth of firewood with me. Have a good September, have a happy weekend!

OPENING ON A CLOUDY DAY

Hello dear you,

It is a bit windy and the first very cloudy day in weeks. Like curtains on all the day long. Or maybe a soft cotton ball cover above protecting. This weather feels very soft.

The shop is officially open now! Hopefully you will like it. It will be open now for two weeks (till the 24th of June). Then comes a small summer trip while it is closed but it opens again in August. Please have a look, I would be happy to know what you think!

Also, the website is updated with a few new works.

A crow is flying around the house. First singing next to my balcony door, then on the other side by the bedroom window and by the balcony again. Nice to have such a gentleman keeping me company. I wish that he finds a safe place middle of twigs and leave branches before the rain arrives.

Glad I feel of every email and comment I have lately received, thank you, thank you thousand times for them! Next week we could have a small game here where at least someone could win a small gift from me as a thank you. Please come back then again.

Be well and enjoy the weekend with some fresh rain scent.

Love,

Anna Emilia

Hei siellä,

Ehkä tänään myös hieman suomeksi. Kiitos kaikille, jotka siellä seurailevat sääpäiväkirjaani.

Tänään on kaupan avajaiset, tervetuloa! Aukioloaika on kesäkuun 25:nteen, sitten on pieni kesäreissu, mutta puoti aukeaa taas elokuussa.

Myös nettisivuilta löytyy uusia töitä.

Ensi viikolla pelataan, joku voittakoon pienen lahjan minulta. Tule siis kiltti takaisin!

On pehemeä pilvinen päivä, lämpö tuntuu silti.

Sateenropinan onnea,

Anna Emilia
