SPRING ALLOTMENT

A few coltsfoot, that have popped up from the earth, are more yellow than the Sun, that shines through a misty cloud on its way down behind the city. Orange and purple Crocuses are awake too. The lake is melting every day more, the waves are happy and alive. Glimmering those golden rays of the one hiding shyly behind the misty clouds.

Spring Allotment, a new little garden to grow up with, for L'Affiche Moderne, is now available. Its companion painting, Garden of A Moon Gazer, is still available too.

Spring Allotment is supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland. Thank you so much!

Spring wishes!

ANNA EMILIA FOR NARUMI

This spring is filled with flora. Clovers, crocuses tied as grandmother's bouquet, apple blossoms blooming in Finnish fir forest. Meadows of green, forget-me-nots here and there.

It is my pleasure to show you some of my paintings from a few years back in a new tableware collection for Narumi in Japan. It is a mix-and-match collection with bone china, with some glazed items and also with glass tumblers, the collection to be continued.

A new continent, a new big story to tell! Butterflies in my tummy!

You can view all the items on Narumi's online store here, available now. Sorry only in Japanese!

Spring has been arriving lately with bright blue sky and warming golden sunshine. Tonight, maybe some Northern Lights appear. With a thermo bottle of hot tea and wrapped in wool I walk to stare the sky.

Arigato Narumi!

Happy spring!

SPRING WINTER LOVE

February weather with blue sky, sunshine and strong winds. When the sun turns enough, first balcony afternoon coffee of the spring might happen. Wrapped in wool. And a second coffee in town with friends.

New greeting cards are available at Red Cap Cards, for every occasion. Apple Tree Love for Valentines. Hopefully you enjoy them!

Do you remember, who wrote you the first greeting card or post card? I bet, for me it was my aunt, who still sends a postcard from her every trip. Last time it was from wintery Athens.

Happy Valentine's Day

HIDING FOX, JACADI F/W 2014, PART II

The one who is hiding in colourful leaves and winter flowers walks so silently with its soft paws. The winter flowers are covered in frost, shining in golden sunshine. The forests have turned to yellow, orange and red with their leaves. The sound of forests is rustling of fallen leaves under feet steps. Or paws.

For the ones who are adventurous little nature expeditors.

And for the ones who endlessly see interesting things.

And for even smaller ones that see every little detail.

And for the ones whose paws go from story to story.

For the ones who eagerly learn everyday something new.

For the ones with special occasions.

And for the ones that need to stay very warm, to expedite a little longer.

Winter Bouquet Collection is now available at Jacadi Paris with the Feather Collection with my illustrations. It was very lovely to get your messages and hear that you like the little owl. Hopefully you enjoy this little fox cub too!

Here the days are very colourful in the afternoons and misty in the mornings with frost. Wishing this moment would last a little longer and then the snow would already float and cover everything with its softness and brightness.

Stay warm in the weekend winds!

SOFT FEATHERS, JACADI F/W 2014

First snow might fall during the coming week at least in the North Finland. Time to be wrapped inside woollen softness, smell the fire in fireplaces after long walks in fresh darkening evenings and drink warm apple juice with cinnamon.

It is also time to have a little peek to Jacadi's new fall and winter collection. Some winter blooms are on their way, a hint of it as a small collar hugging a polar bear above.

But in a forest someone is calling "Hoo, hoo, hoo!"

It is a tiny owl, that has just woken up. The feathers of the owl are very soft.

While the owl is stretching, a few little feathers float in the air and fall on some colourful leaves of autumn.

Who could make a little nest on these leaves and feathers…

Soon we will see the second part of Jacadi's fall and winter collection with my illustrations. These Feather Collection items are available at Jacadi's site already.

Last year there were a deer, a squirrel, a little bird and a hedgehog in the Jacadi & Anna Emilia collection, you can see them here.

L'ours et le soleil -book is also still available (here and here).

Have a lovely Sunday raking leaves, enjoying the colours of changing landscapes!

BIRCH WOODEN FENCE

A little snowstorm after sunny days. The light is still so enchanting, even through the snow. Balcony is filled already with grape hyacinths, one crocus and one daffodil. This song is like the weather today, whitening every moment, crispy and soft the same time. Fearless.

Radio is on, it is still early morning where it hums from. Songs for the sea and seamen, songs for the ones behind mountains. Songs that are surrounded by much lower birch trees.

Wooden Fence from a few years back as a wall muralduvet cover and pillow cases for Urban Outfitters, available now. To make a little birch forest inside your home. Hopefully you enjoy!

A little feature about my work in the new Finnish children's magazine Kidd.O Magazine (in English).

Thank you so much for visiting here and for your kind words! You are so many out there, all over the world.

Springtime snowstorm warmth!

FIRST WINTER BITES

Last winter, I had the honour to paint winter stories for Jacadi Paris. The collection for little ones is now available. There are a frosty forest all-over pattern and many small little winter animals to accompany the long dark winter months.

The little hedgehog who still is searching for a perfect pile of dried leaves to get cozy for the winter's sleep.

There are four different blouses or dresses with Frost Forest pattern.

One and two.

A little bit of small accessories.

Soft warm sleeves with little forest animals.

The hedgehog walking tiny steps through a forest of rustling leaves.

And the leaves that rustle also on branches. And on someone's antlers.

More soft and warm to wrap around when the colder winds blow.

And a little peek to the future with mountains and snow.

Three and four. Hopefully all the little dancing feet are ready to celebrate the arrival of winter.

You can find the whole collection in the French online shop and partly also in the US online shop.

Can you believe, that it was already snowing here last week? It was such a sunny and cold day. And one moment there were the most beautiful snowflakes floating in the air. It lasted just a little moment. Always magical moment.

Happy October, stay warm!

WINTER DREAMS

Sweet evening greetings of powdery snow, a star in the horizon, a long walk, talks. A small blinking lighthouse that one day appeared middle of the small lake behind my windows (even it is just a warning light of some melt ice). Beautiful winter in tunes of a cello.

Small details of two original paintings. First photo taken by sweet L of a framed painting, a wedding gift.

Have a calm new week, filled with pine forest scent, crackling fire, and woollen socks!

SURROUNDED BY FOREST

Hello from under a bright blue sky. Such beautiful days for the summer to start to wave a slow good-bye. Starry nights, crescent of the Moon hiding low and yellow. Stars that wave from the darkening sky. Then the needles of the Sun in the morning pinching again. A farm wedding, long car rides, raspberries from an allotment garden and beautiful concerts. Swimming, blueberries, bonfires.

Last week the photo above arrived. It is taken by Liesl and of her own arm. With a drawing of mine tattooed on it, a commission of this drawing. A sweet girl that carries a small forest with her.

How are you?

Wind in the birch tree leaves, have a good day!

(The photo is by Liesl. Thank you Liesl for asking the permission and buying the copyright to use my drawing.)

RHUBARB PICNIC

Such sunny warm days, rhubarb season. Rhubarb pie, rhubarb-ginger drinks for a sore throat. Rhubarb soup and jam. Rhubarb vanilla tea. Fresh, spicy tastes, easy food that can be packed quickly for unexpected bike journeys or whispered picnics in parks. Last night we were hiding to a dark cinema while the darkest clouds rolled over the city. The clouds were busy to reach another place to rain, they had gone before the bike journey home.

"Chic Chic C'est Picnic" by Sessun has been visiting Madrid this spring. Meadow Picnic decorating their notebooks. Photos taken by Jessie/Sessun.

More ginger drinks for this sore-throated-one, many sheep-formed-cloud greetings to you!
