SPRING BIRDS, INTERVIEW

Big grey clouds in the horizon, waiting new snow to arrive. Teacup in hand, window open. They sing so wildly already, opening their voices, the spring birds. Every day new sounds and more flying.

A little sneak peak to the local stores, to their collection of spring on textile and on tableware. More to tell about these soon! Secret wild gardens and summer birds.

Red Cap Cards made a small interview about me, you can read it here and here. Thank you Carrie and Andie!

Happy melodies!

TO MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHERS

Leaves in every tree are growing so fast. The morning and the evening sizes grow from a little finger to thumb size. The spring rain caresses. Last night they grew also in my dream, to sizes of mountains. The rain made some leaves to grow also here in the blog (do you see them?) and also to the small online shop.

Mother's Day cards on my table. Tomorrow a small train trip with a flower bouquet. Maybe the first swim after the winter ice has gone from the summer house lake.

Happy Mother's Day on Sunday to all beloved mothers!

WALKING DIARY

A slow afternoon walk in the heat of yesterday was filled with surprises. Almost as high as apple trees, sunflowers were bowing their heads in the wind for two crows. "Good day!" I almost heard them saying to each others before continuing their things. Flying and occupying the lampposts or just swaying in the wind. A meadow filled with dancing poppies had appeared on the way to the allotment garden. Sounds of a bicycler, watching the rainclouds coming.

A lot of good music during the weekend. First in the harbor, in sunset surrounded by old boats. Then in Helsinki where a nostalgic autumn wind and sea scent took care of me. Thanks all dears who were there and the ones who said hi. Hi!

Where will the afternoon walk of today take me? What have you seen on your way lately?

Hearts.

P.s. This is becoming all the time a little bit more finished. Good boys!

SEVEN FLOWERS

Seven flowers, from seven different meadows for you to put under your pillow. A bit of Midsummer Eve´s charms middle of puffy clouds, some sunshine, probably more rain, hopefully a bonfire and a ball middle of birch trees.

Happy Midsummer to you, thank you so much for being here!
Many hearts.

BLOOMING

Everything is blooming. Fields and forests, evening sky, night sky, balcony. On Friday also my mailbox with far-away mail. Thank you so much dear Daniela and Nathan! Thank you everyone for coming here.

Seagulls for daddy middle of birch trees.

On a windy weather the lake turns from dark blue to brown. Today it is all silent and calm. A rowing boat is passing my home, I wave behind a lavender bush.

Tea and darkest chocolate, have a good Sunday!

ONE RASPBERRY CAKE, PLEASE

Hello dear October,

Lovely to have you here.

Sounds of woolen socks on the wooden floor. Mist covering everything. Would it be like this to live in a glass of soya milk? Mornings with candles, evenings with candles. Paint strokes on a light blue background. Light pink, turquoise and brown.

Finishing some paintings, bicycling to the post office to send orders, going to search for a vanilla colored white wool, heading to a summerhouse nearby with my family, knitting that wool (hopefully) to a hat to keep ears warm.

How are you?

October wishes, weekend wishes, warm thoughts,

Anna Emilia

P.s. Mama, keep your eyes closed till Monday as this is your birthday card!

WELCOME EVENING

Cane sugar, margarin, soya flour, water. Dried lavender buds, spelt, baking powder, lemon skin, a hint of salt. Mixing, caressing, stretching, heating and eating. A walk, a book, a tea, knitting needles. Recipe for tonight as home is scented with these violet dreamers of a plant in the air.

Kind end of summer evening spells to dear you,

Anna Emilia

LIGHTNINGS OR THE LIGHT FROM A TOWER

Waves, hills, open skies. Driftwood, high tides, hay in the sea. Small stones swinging in the waves on the shore of white sand. Black summer nights. A bit of holiday memories of this Thursday when it starts to smell slightly like autumn. Evenings are more silent and I started to knit again one old pile of black thread.

It was very stormy yesterday. The night before the bedroom was lighten by lightnings. I stared to think that the house is by a lighthouse and the light comes from its tower.

"Isn´t it hard to pedal in this wind?" asked the lady with beautiful deep voice in her flower shop yesterday as I put the Lavender, Mums and Houseleek that I bought from her to my bicycle. It was downhill all the way home, a downhill with a lavender scent.

Happy weekend dear all of you with long walks, reading and baking!

P.S. Thank you dearly for mentioning my work on your blogs, for your written words and your purchases (I am packing them as soon as I have had a lunch on the balcony next to the lavender).

FLOATING LANDSCAPE

Greetings from a train going to the eastern Finland!

Sitting by and watching the landscape to change from woods to fields, from lakes to tunnels, from sun to clouds. From yellow houses to red ones, from curvy forest roads to highways. From small villages to towns with modern stations. The window next to me frames everything and shows a lovely movie (I wonder what could be the subtitles for all this). Trees growing to the same direction, bent by the wind. Secret forest paths and huts in solitude. It always feels like places which are not meant to be seen. Train just passes everything.

What is best about small train trips? Provisions for me of course. Some bread and juice, and a small triangle of dark chocolate. Always tastes better than at home. Happy lunch time!

These flowers are for mothers and grandmothers this Sunday!
Happy weekend dear all of you!

LAUANTAINA, Á LAUGARDAGINN, ON SATURDAY

Hello Saturday,

How are you?

It is sunny, but very windy here. I put all the blankets and pillows to the balcony to get a fresh scent, now the wind does not allow me to take them back. I cannot open the door as the wind pushes it back. Feels like strong wind storms of Iceland.

Saturday is laugardagur in Icelandic and it means a laundry day. The washing machine is humming. Iceland I will think a bit more as this girl walking towards the Vattarnes lighthouse comes for a visit to the town today.

Layers to hide from the coldness. The cherry branches are growing lime green leaves. Storms are signs of spring. Green tea with sage.

Have a warm weekend!
