IN FOREST, HELP!
Birds singing in a summer forest after a refreshing rain, the sun starts to glimmer on every leaf and flower again. The bird songs grow stronger and wilder. Peace is around.
My colleague, wonderful illustrator and comic artist JP Ahonen made a website that sells original drawings and paintings and a few prints. All income will be donated to the Red Cross to aid their work in helping asylum seekers during the Syrian conflict.
This is a detail of a bigger painting, In Forest, that was a commissioned painting for Mirando Bok in Sweden. The original painting is also now available there. The site has collected already more than 10000€, and hopefully soon even more!
Please have a look, and help at:

Peace
1. freedom from disturbance; tranquillity.
2. a state or period in which there is no war or a war has ended
Peace to everyone!

GREETINGS & SALUTATIONS: AN EXHIBITION IN COLLABORATION WITH RED CAP CARDS
The painting table here is covered with green splashes of aquarelle. Trees appear, night and day on my table. Trees are coloured in green dresses also outside by every spring rain drop and sun beam.
Greetings & Salutations, An Exhibition in Collaboration with Red Cap Cards, with works by Jon Klassen, Chris Sasaki, Christian Robinson, Becca Stadtlander, Yelena Bryksenkova and me. A few days the exhibition with Red Cap Cards artists is still open at Gallery Nucleus in California, if you happen to be nearby. Or if you are far away, like me, you can still enjoy the show online, here. All the works are also for sale.
Thank you Carrie and Jessica for this possibility!

WINTER DREAMS
Sweet evening greetings of powdery snow, a star in the horizon, a long walk, talks. A small blinking lighthouse that one day appeared middle of the small lake behind my windows (even it is just a warning light of some melt ice). Beautiful winter in tunes of a cello.
Small details of two original paintings. First photo taken by sweet L of a framed painting, a wedding gift.
Have a calm new week, filled with pine forest scent, crackling fire, and woollen socks!

GREETINGS FROM A PAINTING TABLE
Hello from my painting table.
Turquoise, clover red, puffy dandelion white and forests of greens are filling this table. A small clinging sound as the brush is cleaned in an empty jam jar and comforting melodies of boiling water, as a teapot is filled. Today, Sakura green tea and adventures of drawing small wooden houses. The colder air of autumn makes this spot at home even more precious.
Blossom Sailing. A small boat ready for an afternoon trip on a lake. Sun glimmering, nearby meadow sending greetings as flying leaves and flowers. Water in the lake is perfect for a small swim.
Sweet Kate from BSDA asked me to join her art show of original artworks. There are six pieces for sale for six weeks. You can find all the works here with some more pictures. The two paintings in this post are included. There is also a small interview. You can find BSDA also here. Hopefully you enjoy them!
Wild Strawberries. Clovers, Forget-Me-Nots and Cow Vetches are covering small white flowers of wild strawberries on a clearing. Still need to wait a bit for the sun-kissed, red-cheeked berries to come.
All the works are from this year and signed and sent by me from Finland. On soft cotton paper, by watercolors and some small drops of white acrylic paint. With a lot of love, many long walks and thoughts and many pots of tea.
Thank you so much Kate for this opportunity!
Today is one of those mornings when the small lake behind my window is completely silent and reflects the same colors and forms than above the horizon. Pine trees, trees of a city garden, a corner of a field. Towers of this city. A perfect beginning for new stories to happen. A perfect morning for anything.
Warm smiles and happy last days of August! Thank yo so much for your visits and kind words!

GARDEN OF A MOON GAZER
How things could happen as they are now, that we have here a summer, in Sydney it is autumn. That we all can jump and we all drop down to the ground, no one getting lost in to the space. That there are such things as dark winter nights and nightless Northern summer nights. And how the Moon is such a good companion, always following us, showing his face to us so secretly. Full or half, a crescent. Sometimes hiding. That we see the Venus as a small black dot in front of the sun. Distances that are too long to think.
A garden for a night sky watcher, and shooting star finder. Garden for night time scents and blue flowers. A small tent hut also for a gazer of the transit of Venus. Garden of A Moon Gazer available as an original painting from me and as different sized prints from L’Affiche Moderne. Thank you so much Mélanie for this opportunity!
Is it possible to see the journey of Venus from your place? Will you see it? (Please, remember to protect your eyes!) Let´s see if the weather is fine here tomorrow morning. Today it shines through puffy sheep-formed clouds.
Greetings to Venus, to Moon and to you.

SNOWY WHISPERS

Snowstorm during the weekend, long walks and red cheeks. Pancakes with tomato salad and chicpea-cashew-coriander-parsley-olive oil-garlic-spread. Or pancakes with buckthorn jelly and oat cream. Slow and long music for snow, silence for the wind. Writing letters and cards in between sketching. In between gazing the snow flakes floating. A few at a time.
Packing orders (and originals). Watching the pine tree on the balcony. Walking more and listening the sound of snow. Small birds all over, eating the last berries from trees and seeds from people. Trying to learn more their names and behavior.
Have a calm Monday, with warmth from me to you.

MORNING FROST MEADOW
It rains in a melody of greetings from the South. The waves of the lake are alive again, they rush to shore with a strong wind. Color gray is echoing from the lake to the walls of houses, to the tree trunks, to the sky. The grass is still green. Waiting for snow, which does not come to visit. Tiny raindrops trickle down like a black and white movie on the balcony windows. Warm cups of tea, black pen and white pages of sketchbook are a good companion to listen to that orchestra of weather.Morning Frost Meadow happened one morning in sunrise. The dew was suddenly frozen, the last flowers like statues with their shiny icy covers. It is available as a print at The Working Proof. 15% of all the sales goes for charity.
Lately there have been many questions about original paintings. If you are interested on something, please send me an email. Many originals are still available, for example the painting above. Hello to you all, and especially to all the new ones (who might have found their way through Design*Sponge), so glad to have you here.
Have a warm, cozy weekend.

PACKING AN OLD MONTH AWAY

A bit of Friday greetings with distant drums of thunder to you.
Half melt dark chocolate by a shore in sunset, while trees behind got dark, but the lake still had lights on. Dreaming of boats, watching boats, listening a story about a boat. A house drifting from a shore to another.
Many paintings in June. Happy July!
Happy weekend.
