THE SAME, SO DIFFERENT

It is a windy and a rainy morning, quite mild air. Melodies of drumming on window sills. Days are getting so short and when the clouds hug, they seem even shorter.

Lingering in a few weeks back when frosty air covered everything in glimmer. How the day was so pastel and when the night turned on its lights, the landscape became so huge.

Two photos from the same place, same day. Oh how small we are and how beautiful our planet Earth is.

Star shines and fresh winds!

(The second photo is taken by my brother.)

AUGUST

Summer continues with reflections and swimming, pink sunsets, by-swimmers, reading books in shadowy parks. Wild strawberries.

It has been very warm and sunny with a few thunder storms that were forgotten already the next day with new tickling sunshine.

Welcome August and more sunshine with tiny hints of changing season!

BLACKBIRDS, INSTAGRAM

Sunny evening walks in the most wildest bird concerts. Blackbirds, they do sing the perfect spring melodies. Washing laundry after weekend visitors, testing and checking coming duvet cover designs with more singing blackbirds.

You can find me now also on Instagram.

Sunny afternoon, a few exhibitions in town, tea outside, more friends.

Tickling and warming sun rays!

GOLDEN, SILVER

Everything has been golden lately. Raking yellow leaves at the summerhouse.

Night storm and sound of waves rising the stones. Morning so calm, like mirror the lake. Hello clouds!

Scent of fire and chimneys with smoke. Squirrel on the roof. Swans in the sky and swimming in the lake.

Frost layers. Swimming under a starry sky in the evening. Running back to the warmth of sauna.

Patchwork of trees.

In different patterns.

Ant paths, pulling frozen mushrooms from soft moss pillows.

Gold on silver layer.

Bagfuls of gold.

Today everything turned to silver. Floating gentle snow. Then real snowing. A light cover of snow here and there.

Hello winter!

BONFIRE COFFEE, IN FOREST

Autumn, so colourful, pinching nose with some colder temperatures. The sound of yellow and orange aspen tree leaves in wind. Handfuls of lingonberries on soft moss pillows.

Forest paths so inviting. Ceiling so high, walls not existing. Shadows and glimmer of tree and rock fields.

Bonfire to make it a real living room.

On the way, here and there.

Times of ice age and how it formed the landscape.

Secret codes, arrangements. New and old. Growing and fading again.

The stories about swamps and how everything could be lost inside.

And then this moment. The smell. The taste. The slow rattle of fire. The forest in your coffee cup, the waving tree tops.

Slowly the aspen leaves are flying in the wind and the ceiling becomes more naked and higher. Before the stars are turned on, walking the forest paths back home.

Thank you so much for your kind comments about the Jacadi illustrations!

The mist has wrapped everything inside it outdoors today. Like looking at a white wall. Slowly it starts to open its curtains and colours appear from the other side of the small lake.

Have a beautiful day!

NORTHERN LIGHTS

Last night, after sauna, wrapping back to warm woollen clothes. Outside wild bright green fires were dancing on the night sky. The Northern Lights. Revontulet, fires of the fox. Old beliefs say that a fox is wiping the snow with its tail in the sky.

Monday, mánudagur, Moon Day. Beautiful sunny days. Beautiful Moonlit nights.

Have a sweet calm new week!

(The second and third photos are crops of photos by S. in Iceland a long time ago.)

CITY CHIMNEYS

Little rays of sunshine on the ice, green and red on my paint brushes. Lunch time soup boiling as lime green and broccoli green, coconut white, yellow bell pepper. With touches of thyme of last summer.

A little peek of last Monday, how a new spring week started on a window display by the rapids of Tammerkoski and in closeness of the city chimneys.

Calm and sweet last days of February!

WINTER DREAMS

Sweet evening greetings of powdery snow, a star in the horizon, a long walk, talks. A small blinking lighthouse that one day appeared middle of the small lake behind my windows (even it is just a warning light of some melt ice). Beautiful winter in tunes of a cello.

Small details of two original paintings. First photo taken by sweet L of a framed painting, a wedding gift.

Have a calm new week, filled with pine forest scent, crackling fire, and woollen socks!

THESE SUMMER NIGHTS

Warm summer nights to be spent in parks, in harbors, bicycling home before the thunder arrives. Stopping to swim on the way.

More thunder in the air, still sunny. Time enough for one more swim.

Soft shadowed Sunday greetings.

RAINY WHILE SUNNY

Rainy while the sun shines. Sunny while it rains. Showers passing, like melodies. They make everything beautiful and to smell wonderful. Autumn. September.

Bicycled to the town in between those showers to develop a film (and to fetch the Tree House prints from the print shop) that has been longer than a year in my camera. What it becomes when there are no memories of frames taken. Empty pictures grow to patterns, colors, shadows. The raindrops on the window are from a few days ago, the first autumn rain. The sunshine on my hair is from early spring that we call as spring-winter in Finnish. The time when it is still very cold, there is a lot of snow left, but when the sun starts to reach us with its long but still tired yellow beams. That day I walked over the frozen lake from town to home. Afternoon sun of winter.

But now the autumn is here. A book, a dark chocolate bar, (a few candies called Iceland
with polar bears in them,) tomorrow a train trip, music and friends. Happy. Maybe some yarn to knit.

Heippa! Ihana naapurini Julia, joka asuu unikkokedon takana, vei minut kävelylle järven ympäri ja kirjoitti haastattelun kuvittamiseen ja yritteliäisyyteen liittyen. Kiitos Julia!

Two days ago my lovely neighbor Julia, who lives behind the meadow of poppies, took me for a walk around the small lake and wrote an interview with me.
Edit: Now also in English!

Soft melodies to your weekend. Stay well!
