SNOW

A winter that lasted for a weekend. The week starts with puddles, but also with lingonberry tea, bicycling, candles, the first hyacinth scent, letter writing.

Hello January, hello 2014!

How has your year started?

Dreaming of snow and cold biting chins. Where has our winter gone? Dreaming of skiing with my new skis and skating, like in the photos from the North a few weeks back.

A new year, filled with happiness, many smiles too already. 

Wishing everyone warm puddles to swim, new flavours to taste, hundreds of kilometres to walk, long hugs and tables surrounded by dear friends and a little bit of adventures.

NORTHERN GREETINGS

Winter in the North. Days that last three hours, snow flies in the cold wind. Skiing paths in forests and on frozen lakes. On the way a night horizon filled with green dancing Aurora Borealis. Or the tail of a fox wiping the snow and making it's steps invisible.

WHITENESS, LAST SHOP SHIPPING DAY THIS FRIDAY

On Saturday morning a wedge of 22 swans flew over the tree tops on a grey sky. Singing sadly on their way, telling a long and old story from the ancient times most probably. Open waters have disappeared, I waved good-bye to them on their way to South. I am soon on my way to North instead.

That is why this Friday, the 13th of December is the last day to order items from my small online shop before Christmas. The shop stays open, but all orders done after Friday will be shipped after 27th of December. Some of the posters are back, also some greeting cards.

Candle lights, lanterns everywhere as the days are so short. The darkness is hugging with so many warm moments.

A few floating snowflakes, a cup of cinnamon tea and a smile to your day!

L'OURS ET LE SOLEIL, A BOOK ABOUT A WINTER ADVENTURE

Hello December! Winter is here and the landscape is covered in whiteness, softness and silence. Children play and here and there snowmen appear. Snowmen or snow animals. Small lights appear on windows early afternoon as the darkness arrives. Chimneys on the roofs of houses blow narrow breaths of smoke from warming and glowing bonfires.

It is my pleasure to show you my second illustrated book. L'Ours et Le Soleil is a book about siblings Sigrid and Peter and their winter adventure through forests and mountains. The story is an adapted version of L'ours qui avait pris le soleil by Paul-Jacques Bonzon. The book includes also a cd with the story as a musical fairy tale performed by Domitille and Amaury de Crayencour. Published together by naïve and Jacadi in French.

What a lovely weekend it has been with friends. Takk ♥ to everyone around! Last night a winter storm was knocking on the windows and this morning many trees seemed to be fallen. Wishing that the weather freezes the ground quickly so the trees with their roots can manage through the strong winter winds.

WHITE, GREY

Soft whiteness arrived this morning. The silence and the same time a new sound under walking steps.

The colours starting to hide.

Everything so still.

The same time some colours become more visible.

The city behind the small lake disappears.

No-one there.

Reaching/hiding.

Turning back home icy flakes on nose and in eyes. Fingers around a hot tea cup.

Welcome winter!

GOLDEN, SILVER

Everything has been golden lately. Raking yellow leaves at the summerhouse.

Night storm and sound of waves rising the stones. Morning so calm, like mirror the lake. Hello clouds!

Scent of fire and chimneys with smoke. Squirrel on the roof. Swans in the sky and swimming in the lake.

Frost layers. Swimming under a starry sky in the evening. Running back to the warmth of sauna.

Patchwork of trees.

In different patterns. 

Ant paths, pulling frozen mushrooms from soft moss pillows.

Gold on silver layer.

Bagfuls of gold.

Today everything turned to silver. Floating gentle snow. Then real snowing. A light cover of snow here and there. 

Hello winter!

SUNDAY SWIMMINGS

In the pool, while swimming, the sun rays were glimmering. Outside snow was sparkling. The sun warmed through windows and the water was turquoise.

Surprise visitors from behind a sea, beautiful music and long breakfasts. Many smiles.

Happy February! Helmikuu, Pearl Month. Helmikuu helistää, February rattles. February is the coldest month in Finland. Pearls appear on tree branches as the sun starts to shine more, it warms and melts the snow to raindrops and the evening cold freezes them again. Ice pearls are hanging on all tree branches.

FIRST SPRING TICKLES

A small train trip, many walks. More powdery snow. A few sun rays tickling all the corners. Reading a sentence here and there. More frozen windows. Spicy broccoli soup with coconut cream, ginger and lime juice. What about a few pancakes with grandmother´s raspberry jam?
