SEA ADVENTURES

An archipelago, a home island. Next to seventy or eighty volcanoes, above and below the sea.

Once one of those volcanoes started to erupt during night time.

That volcano in sunset.

Between the main island and home island, a little escape island. During summer also about eight million puffins nesting around.

The home island, so pretty, on so dangerous grounds.

But so pretty and calm. Windy too. I like wind. It is a weather that you feel.

Home island.

The blues.

The good-byes.

And the quickly changing weather. Waves.

AN ISLAND, A LIGHTHOUSE, ROOTS

Night train towards the North. A bus and a ferry to the landscapes of mist and rain. A small trip to see where my grandfather's mother was born. The thick clouds disappearing from the island, the sun tickling, wind calming down. Beautiful music festival just by the lighthouse. Sunset by the beach listening to the waves.

Middle of the island a village with kind people, good food, tiny piglet and a goat that became a mother for an orphan calf. Light violet harebell meadows everywhere. Sunshine on shoulders, a birch branch to keep the insects away.

Traditional houses painted with Falu red, flea markets and the scent of bent-in-the-wind Scots pines in sunshine.

Afternoon walk in the warm sea.

With a friend. With sun tan.

Evening walk.

Sunset and the songs of seagulls and terns. The horizon disappearing.

Sleeping next to the lighthouse and dreaming of the times when my grandfather's mother lived here. Maybe now I understand why I dream of islands and the blinking towers.

Summer trips with never setting sun.

Greetings from the island!

And warm and sunny July to you!

CLOUDS FROM ANOTHER MONTH

Soapwort fills the warm summer wind. It is a bit like jasmine, a small slice of soap and melted sugar together, its scent. Even though the fields are full of big strawberries here, nothing wins tiny wild strawberries in forests, growing on the sunniest spots. Riding a ferry over a lake to the other side, nothing could have been calmer than that lake yesterday.

Illustrations about siblings and their feelings towards each other to Kaksplus magazine (7/2011). It must not be always easy to be in the middle and look to both sides the same time.

It is July, but the clouds look more and more like August. Also the wind in birch, alder and maple tree leaves sounds more like full summer, not like in the beginning anymore. Closing eyes and imagining how the creature with that sound could look like. Huge but kind. Very kind.

Thank you for coming here.

Greetings from forest paths.

NORTHERN LIGHTS

In this ferry sleeps very kind and talented people. If they are not sleeping anymore after a long night, I hope they are watching the darkening horizon sitting on the benches in sauna of the ferry. They are going over Gulf of Bothnia back home. They were playing a concert here last night.

Thank you Johan, Kristoffer, Larisa, André, Daniel and Erik. Thank you very much for the beautiful music and the collaboration (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7). Thank you for dedicating this song to me last night and for the nice moments together. I hope to meet you again very soon.

Thank you Declan de Barra for amazing singing and playing. I really hope you enjoyed being in Finland and all the ice around you.

Thank you Henri, who helped to bring these heart-warming musicians here.

Thank you Pekka, who came to say hello and surprised me from Hämeenlinna.

After meeting you all it felt almost natural to walk home at 4 am and see Northern lights in the sky with snow flakes floating slowly down.
